On Monday, May 8, the district recognized 57 students who regularly display excellent moral character. The awards were presented to 3-12 grade students by their principals, Superintendent Andy Gardner, and the GAPS School Board. The ceremony was streamed live and can be viewed on YouTube.

El lunes 8 de mayo, el distrito reconoció a 57 estudiantes que regularmente demuestran un excelente carácter moral. Los directores, el Superintendente Andy Gardner y la Mesa Directiva Escolar de GAPS entregaron los premios a los estudiantes en los grados 3 a 12.

Over the summer, Greater Albany Public Schools will transition to a new Student Information System (SIS) database. During the transition period, the registration system will be down for up to three weeks and families will be unable to register during that time period. In anticipation of this disruption, the district is requesting families register students early this year and has opened up the registration portal. 

“This summer as the district and Linn-Benton ESD transition to a new software platform, Synergy, it is important to have our families register students early this year,” said Superintendent Andy Gardner. “By registering in the spring instead of in the summer, we can more effectively plan for staffing and space for the 2023-24 school year.” 

Families should review this important information regarding registration:

• Registration in the old system will be automatically transferred into the new system. Please do not register your student twice.
• Forms should have recently gone home with your student containing a Parent ID number (PIV number)  along with additional registration information. The PIV number must be used to complete registration. If you did not receive your letter with your PIV number, please contact your school office.
• Students who are enrolling in the district for the first time should be prepared to provide proof of address, proof of age, and proof of immunization. 
• Families should use a computer or laptop to complete registration. Those who need assistance may reach out to their student’s home school for support. 

If you are unsure if your child will be returning to their current school next year, the district still requests families register as it allows for space planning. 

For Spanish-speaking families, each school should have a bilingual staff member who can assist with registration. Spanish-speaking families should contact their home school to set up an appointment. 

Additionally, the Welcome Center is planning a registration evening for Spanish-speaking families on Tuesday, May 9. Appointments at the Welcome Center will be available from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on May 9, and the center will be open for drop-in registration help from 5 to 8 p.m. More information about the Welcome Center’s registration event may be obtained by calling (541) 704-2376.

Inscriba a su estudiante temprano este año

Durante el verano, las Escuelas Públicas de Greater Albany harán la transición a una nueva base de datos del Sistema de Información Estudiantil (SIS por sus siglas en inglés). Durante el período de transición, el sistema de inscripción estará inactivo por hasta tres semanas y las familias no podrán registrarse durante ese período de tiempo. Anticipándose a esta interrupción, el distrito solicita que las familias inscriban a los estudiantes temprano este año y ha abierto el portal de inscripción.

“Este verano, mientras el distrito y la oficina Linn-Benton ESD (Distrito de servicios educativos) hacen la transición a una nueva plataforma de software que se llama Synergy, es importante que nuestras familias inscriban a los estudiantes a principios de este año”, dijo el Superintendente Andy Gardner. “Al inscribirnos en la primavera en lugar de en el verano, podemos planificar de manera más efectiva la dotación de personal y el espacio para el año escolar 2023-24”.

Las familias deben revisar esta información importante sobre la inscripción:

• La inscripción en el antiguo sistema se transferirá automáticamente al nuevo sistema. Por favor, no inscriba a su estudiante dos veces.
• Los formularios deberían haberse enviado a casa recientemente con su estudiante que contiene un número de identificación de padre/madre junto con información de inscripción adicional. El número de identificación de los padres debe usarse para completar la inscripción Si no recibió su carta con su identificación de padre/madre, comuníquese con la oficina de su escuela.
• Los estudiantes que se matriculan en el distrito por primera vez deben estar preparados para proporcionar comprobante de domicilio, comprobante de edad y comprobante de vacunación. 
• Las familias deben usar una computadora o computadora portátil para completar la inscripción. Las personas que necesitan ayuda pueden comunicarse con la escuela del área de asistencia de su estudiante para obtener apoyo. 

Si no está seguro/a de si su hijo/a regresará a su escuela actual el próximo año, el distrito aún solicita que las familias inscriban al estudiante ya que permite la planificación del espacio.

Para las familias de habla hispana, cada escuela debe tener un miembro del personal bilingüe que pueda ayudar con la inscripción. Las familias de habla hispana deben comunicarse con su escuela local para programar una cita. 

Además, el martes 9 de mayo, el Centro de Bienvenida está planeando una noche de inscripción para las familias de habla hispana. Las citas en el Centro de Bienvenida estarán disponibles el martes, 9 de mayo de 8 a.m. a 4 p.m. y sin cita previa de 5 p.m. a 8 p.m. Se puede obtener más información sobre el evento de inscripción del Centro de Bienvenida llamando al (541) 704-2376.
