2018-19 New School Hours Start Time 7:50am – Dismiss Time 2:25pm

NEW School Hours:

  • START time@ 7:50am

  • DISMISS time@ 2: 25pm* M-T-TH-F
  • *Wednesdays are Early Release = Dismiss time

@ 1:25pm (except Sept. 5th & June 5th

  • 1st-5th Graders =Tues Sept. 4t h is your first day of school !
  • Kinders = Monday, Sept. 10t h is your first day of school!


Horario NUEVO de la escuela:


  • HORARIO DE SALIDA: 2:25 p.m.* Lun-Mar-Jue y Vie.
  • *Los miércoles la salida es temprano = Horario de salida 1:25 p.m. (excepto septiembre 5 y junio 5).
  • El martes 4 de septiembre es el primer día de clases para los grados de 1° a 5°.
  • El lunes 10 de septiembre es el primer día de clases para Kínder.

August 7-9th ~ FINALIZE Registration has moved to AOS

SUNRISE REGISTRATION HAS BEEN MOVED ACROSS THE STREET TO AOS (Albany Options School) due to continuing construction at Sunrise.  Dates/Times have not changed (see below).

Please park in the AOS parking lot and enter thru the SIDE door on Thurston Street into the AOS Building across the street from Sunrise.

FINALIZE REGISTRATION:  The dates/times for REQUIRED Registration @ AOS (Albany Options School) are:
  • Aug 7th(Tues) @ 11am-7pm
  • Aug 8th(Wed) @  9am-5pm
  • Aug 9th (Thurs) @ 7am-3pm
  • Aug 10th (Fri) = OFFICE CLOSED

On-Line Registration starts July 23rd

*July 23rd ~ ON-LINE Registration Begins *Required starting this year 

Beginning with 2018-19 school year, GAPS will use online services for:

  • Student Registration (Enrollment)
  • Free and Reduced Meal Application

GAPS will be using Registar for these services and in order to create an account to register your student you MUST have a working email address. If you do not have an email address, you will NEED TO create one prior to Online Registration in August. 

 You will receive a letter from the District Office in July with the PIV# that you will have to have to do the On-line Registration. LOOK FOR THAT IN JULY & KEEP IT!

The District Office will be setting up locations to complete your on-line registration if you do not have access to the internet or  a laptop/computer. They will send out the locations, dates/times.


Online Registration has started!

Online Registration has started for returning students!  A returning student is one of the following:

  1. Attended a school in the district during the 2017-18 school year through the end of the school year.
  2. Kindergarten student if the enrollment paperwork was submitted after Kindergarten Orientation and Enrollment in May.

If a student is new to the district for this school year, go to the Enrollment page for information on how to enroll your student.

If you have your PIV number (bright yellow flyer sent home with report cards in June) and an e-mail address you are ready to register your student.

If you do not have the flyer with the PIV number, contact your student’s school after August 2 or attend a district computer lab.  PIV numbers will only be given to the legal parent/guardian at the district computer lab locations. State or government issued photo identification is required to receive this information.

La inscripción en el Internet está ahora abierta para los estudiantes que están regresando. Un estudiante que está regresando es uno de los siguientes:

  1.  Haber asistido a una escuela en el distrito durante el año escolar 2017-18 hasta el final del año.
  2.  Estudiante de Kínder, si la inscripción en papel fue presentada después de la orientación de Kínder e inscripción en el mes de mayo.

Si un estudiante es nuevo en el distrito para este año escolar, vaya a la página de inscripción para nuevos estudiantes para saber cómo inscribir a su estudiante.

Si usted tiene su número PIV (enviado a la casa junto con las boletas de calificaciones en junio) y una dirección de correo electrónico, entonces ya está listo para inscribir a su estudiante.

Si usted no tiene el volante con el número PIV, contacte a la escuela de su estudiante después del 2 de agosto o vaya a uno de los laboratorios de computadoras del distrito. Los números PIV se entregarán sólo a los padres/apoderado legal, en los lugares de los laboratorios de computadoras del distrito. Se requiere una identificación con foto expedida por el Estado o el gobierno, para recibir esta información.

Attention teachers: Apply for a fall APSF grant

The annual Albany Public Schools Foundation grant application window is open. Teachers can apply for a classroom grant for the 2018-19 school year.

Applications are due on Oct. 15 and are available online at

Priority is given to requests in the areas of art, music, STEM, and health and wellness. Teachers who received a grant from the foundation during the previous year must submit an evaluation before being considered for a new grant.

Last year, the foundation awarded $37,683 in classroom grants for programs, projects and materials. Grants are funded by the three Albany Public School Foundation events: iSwim for Kids, iCelebrate Kids Benefit Gala and the iRun for Kids race.
